Food styling

A job with a unique skill set. Food styling not only requires excellent cooking skills but an eye for detail and the ability to plan cleverly, some juggling skills would not go amiss. As an experienced food stylist, Sonja knows how to work with her creative team to plate mouthwatering beautiful food. She can put an experienced team of food photographers, art directors and stylists, together to ensure gorgeous content. As Food Editor on various titles, she briefed creatives to reach the bests results whether it is editorial stills, or commercial advertising.

Recipe writing & foodie content

Does your product need a delicious easy to use recipe to market it? Sonja is passionate about creating new combinations and flavours, yet is always driven to keep things simple. She understands time in the kitchen is sometimes limited, whether you have a busy life, with a family or work too hard. She can whip up effortless recipes that work. She spent years in London working with the major supermarkets, designing tempting dishes to market their new and unique products. As Food Editor, Sonja has collated gorgeous books and magazine content. Clients included M&S, Waitrose, Sainsbury’s Tesco and Asda. Recipes are tested for the everyday cook and beginner to enjoy.

Menu creation & consulting

Need to revive your menu? Keep it in tune with global trend? She brings her 25 years of unique insight & food knowledge into your kitchen, having lived and worked on 3 different continents. She also owned her own cafés for 10 years. This allows her to intuitively understand, the quirky logistics of each individual kitchen. Menu creation is something she loves, working with hotels, deli’s, restaurants and concepts, helping clients stay on-trend.  She loves focussing on the small details, often overlooked. This involves creating current menus, staff training & onboarding new mindsets & techniques to keep customers engaged.

Private Chef

Being a private chef is Sonja’s favourite part of being a chef. Sourcing the best ingredients, creating fresh, simply fabulous foods to suit her client’s needs and schedule is something she is passionate about. She has years of experience cooking for VIP’s in England, Italy and South Africa. Actors on a film shoot, families with busy schedules and wedding parties. One never quite knows who may walk through the door (Rainman being her ultimate surprise guest) and what you may need to cook next, it’s all part of the unique challenge. She blends into any kitchen, creating wonderful dishes to feed the soul. She specialises in clean and healthy food, organic and vegan food.

KITCHEN DESIGN

Sonja kitchen intuition gives her the unique ability to design & resolve kitchen flow. Growing up in a family of quantity surveyors & architects she has an inherent understanding of planning & navigating the building or renovation process, passionate about kitchens working efficiently. Her personal restaurant experience from a service and chef's perspective gives her indepth insight to create the perfect solutions. Often redesigning restaurant & hotel kitchens along the way when doing menu design, solving their service issues at the same time. She can help spec the kitchen from plan, working closely with the architects, assisting with design style, flow & procurement of appliances big and small, whether professional or residential. She assists clients with the procurement of equipment, crockery & cutlery to uniquely suit their cooking skills and budget directly from suppliers.
